A CRT-D requires three specifically placed leads to synchronize the heart’s pumping action and provide defibrillation protection: the first lead is placed in upper right chamber to monitor the heart’s natural rhythm. Second Lead is placed in the lower right chamber to pace and provide shock if life threatening arrythmias are detected and the third lead is threaded through the coronary sinus to the outside wall of the lower-left chamber. This lead allows the device to pace the left ventricle simultaneously with the right, correcting uncoordinated contractions. CRT-D performs two critical functions
Our specialists typically recommend a CRT-D for patients who:
CRT-D implantation is more complex than a standard pacemaker and requires a high level of expertise in Electrophysiology.
Unlike a standard pacemaker, a third lead is precisely positioned in the Coronary Sinus to pace the left ventricle.
The procedure is performed under local anesthesia with sedation. Most patients spend 1–2 nights in the hospital and notice an improvement in their breathing and energy levels within weeks.
In 2025, our CRT-D devices come equipped with Bluetooth connectivity, allowing our doctors to monitor your heart’s performance and fluid status remotely via a smartphone app.
Significantly lowers the risk of being admitted for heart failure symptoms.
Patients often report a dramatic increase in their ability to walk, climb stairs, and exercise.
CRT-D is proven to reduce the risk of mortality in specific heart failure populations.
Implanting a CRT-D requires navigating the complex anatomy of the heart’s veins. Our center is equipped with:
