An Electrophysiology Study is a test that examines the electrical signals of your heart. It helps identify the exact cause of irregular heartbeats
An EPS is a test that measures the electrical activity of the heart to diagnose abnormal heart rhythms (arrhythmias) and determine their cause. It is usually performed in a cardiac catheterization lab by a cardiologist who specializes in heart rhythm problems (an electrophysiologist).
Very thin wires (catheters) are placed through veins into the heart to record electrical activity. It is a minimally invasive procedure.

Diagnostic tools like ECGs, Holter monitors, and event recorders are used to detect irregular heart rhythms. Early diagnosis of arrhythmias allows timely management, preventing complications like stroke or heart failure.

Tests are used to investigate unexplained symptoms such as palpitations, fainting, or dizziness. Monitoring heart activity during these episodes helps identify underlying cardiac causes and guides appropriate treatment.

Diagnostic tests help doctors determine the need for procedures like catheter ablation or the implantation of pacemakers or defibrillators. Accurate evaluation ensures that therapy is targeted and effective in treating abnormal heart rhythms.
